Professional Services & Negligence Claims
We do not handle personal injury
Professional services — such as advice from surveyors, architects, accountants, financial advisers, or solicitors — must be provided with reasonable care and skill under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If the professional falls below the expected standard and you suffer financial loss as a result, you may have a claim in negligence or under the Act.
Common examples: a surveyor missing serious defects in a property purchase, incorrect tax advice leading to penalties, or flawed architectural plans causing extra building costs.
You generally need to show reliance on their advice and resulting loss. Start with a formal complaint to the firm (most carry professional indemnity insurance).
If unresolved, we can help assess the claim, gather evidence, and pursue it — often settling out of court.
